netherlands day 1 - amsterdam

we took a horrendous 15.5hrs overnite train from copenhagen to amsterdam to save money by not taking plane..

to save even more, we decided not to get a crochette (a bed on train) cos it will well round up to wat it would hav cost us if we flew..

the noise, the jerking, the limited space in the 6-men cabin, the uncomfortable seat, i stayed awake for at least 15hrs of it.. yes, i tink i barely slept 10mins..

we killed the first 2 hours playing dai-dee and exploring the train.. den we decided to try to sleep.. even b4 halfway thru the journey, i decided to plug in my ipod and listen to the music, since i KNOW there's no way i can fall asleep..

we arrived in the morning, checked in to our hostel, and wondered off to Zaanse Schans - windmill village - highlight of the day!

we were suppose to catch a free ferry to bring us across to Zaanse Schans for the actual windmill village.. however, we were astonished tat the bridge linking us is under reconstruction, and the ferry was spoilt, so there's no way for us to get over!!

disappointed, we went into a cafe for some authentic amsterdam fat fries (or tats wat i call it. haha), and hopefully the ferry will be repaired and back in service..

not to be disheartened so easily, we decided to check out the ferry point once more..

dis time, a lady popped out and mentioned tat a bus will actually come n pick us up, do a big detour to bring us into Zaanse Schans!! YAYS!! so we stood outside the ferry point gates and waited patiently for the bus to arrive.. by 2.45pm, the ferry was repaired, and we could board the ferry to go over!! double YAYS!!

its seriously a very quiet and tranquile place to be at.. a perfect place for retirement! haha..

we went into the cheese farm, some souvenir shops, as well as clogs shops..

we relaxingly strolled the whole of Zaanse Schans to find ourselves NOT TIRED of the place at all lah.. haha.. its such an enjoyable time spent at the super windy place, full of countryside flavour!

wat a wonderful place to chill out and spend the day away doing nothing but walking ard this little village?!?! hee..
