Baking is

-Therapy for the Soul -

on a boring saturday, where many of our angmos frens r invited by other angmos to the many BBQ parties (spring is here, and its 10degrees outdoor finally) sprouting in and outside of campus village, (N none of us were invited.. talk about discrimination huh..) joey joel n brandon decided to cook us a dinner! haha..

with nothing much to do, and we din wanna go empty handed.. we decided to cook as well! haha..

words can oni describe SO MUCH, how heavenly it tasted.. haha.. so allow me to present to u readers, a pictorial progression from flour to cake! get ur tissue ready, for u willl DRROOOOL..

first, the recipe n steps, all summarised as above..

the making: cream butter n sugar, den add egg yolks and continue creaming..

throw in the flour n baking powder n vanilla extract (we switched to rose essence to make it smell ROSY! haha) and mix well..

throw in the wisked egg white and cocoa powder, mix well..

pour into a huge-ass tray tat can fit into ur oven (yes, we actually found a tray tats TOO BIG to enter our new oven, tat we had to run to other containers that uses the old ovens to bake lah..)

bake for 40-50mins.. take it out n slice into 4 equal portions..

now, the frosting.. melt the sugar in boiling water, cool it sufficiently (until its pretty sticky) and add to wisked egg whites (with a pinch of salt, and vanilla extract.. again we switched to rose essense, and it smelt like it was liquor-laced! nice!)

apply the frosting on each layer n stack them up! so u shd get a tall 4-layer DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE!

but we were running out of time, we stopped at 2.. haha.. apply all over the cake to cover the sides as well..

refridgerate for at least 1hour b4 serving!

the happy pple for dinner!

the food - bakuteh, cabbage with dried shrimps, brocolli in fried shallop (fried onions), curry chicken, chai-po in scrambled eggs, jap curry cheese-baked rice and devil's food cake for dessert..

the 2 girls r so pretty n dressed up, but not for us, its cos they got post-dinner activities!! salsa-party outside DTU.. see, the sporean guys r SO LEFT OUT of action lah.. haha..

ohh, b4 i end off, i almost died in bliss eating the cake.. i dunnoe abt the rest.. but i kinda overheard its DAMN NICE.. i aso tink so! whaha.. so, here's the pic once again!! ^^

wat a great way to dismiss the miserable miss-home feelings (at least for now)..
