.. so, is hockey a dangerous sport?? ..
today i saw another bloody incident during hockey training..
we were playing a weird 2-V-3 tactical training ard 7pm.. so while training, or playing, when a defender tried her best to sweep a ball out of the goal zone, it juz happened tat the ball flew up n ended up smacking on Jinxi's (our KE7 Hockey Girls Captain) upper lip!! OMG!!
blood flew out of her lip like a tap turned on, n at $0.00 per ml.. it was dripping so freely tat the blood drips all over her palms, n unto the floor.. the basketball court still hav her blood now..
we tot it was her tooth n gum tat was causing the massive amount of blood-shed, but it turned out to b a big split on her upper lip.. saying it now, i still feel the pain for her.. its really quite a scary sight with the large amount of blood flow..
terence brought her down to nuh (yet again!!) for stitches.. hai, the blood, the stitches, the wound, the scar, the physical disfiguration, the emotional burden n liability to herself n her parents.. so hurting..
she stood tall, no tears, no whims, no complains, no 'its-so-painful-i'm-gonna-die' look.. totally fearless, she remained calm, rinsed her wound, applied pressure to stop the bleeding, and went down to nuh in a steady manner.. wat a doctor-to-b.. u go, girl!!
This is the 2nd injury throughout dis whole season (training since aug), yet the 2nd injury within 4days.. izzit too much, or izzit within tolerence?!?!
back in jc time, i suffered a similar 'rite-smack on the upper lip' injury during j2.. tat was the oni injury witnessed for my team tat year.. izzit too much, or izzit within tolerence?!?!
back then, i recall i felt very bad, not juz for my lips, (n the fear of scarring, getting disfigured when i'm already not tat good-looking to start with!!) but also the accountability to my parents.. it was a sport i chose to play, n getting injuried was not sumthing i wanted / anticipated / much less prepared for.. the sport itself, of cos, became the scapegoat..
aso, back then, i remember i could oni feed fench fries thru one side of my mouth n i can't drink properly.. sucking thru straws was worse as my lip can't close fully!! i tink it happened to b skool holiday, so i stayed home n my mum had to buy fries for me every meal for quite a few days b4 i started eating normally..
pple (including my parents) would tink tat hockey is so dangerous, with balls flying n injuring every player.. but is tat really the case?!?! isn't it juz like any other sports where OCCASIONALLY players fall n injure themselves?!?!
.. so, is hockey a dangerous sport?? ..
i leave it open for u guys to ponder n mayb play to find out..
*me, still a passionate hockey player after intro-ed to the game since 2001 during jc times..
