My Simple Life...: Helsinger and Helsingborg

Helsinger, a small town in Denmark, where the Krongborg Castle is situated.. Its juz next to the shoreline, and offers a spendid view of the sea and wats opposite - Sweden.. haha..

The castle was built by King FrederikII between 1574 and 1585, with it burnt down in 1629, and Christian IV, son of Frederik II rebuilt it in his father's style..

The military converted the castle into a barrack in 1785 and was restored and rebuilt to its state in the days of Frederik II and Christian IV oni in 1923..

in 2000, the Krongborg Castle was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List..

CW from top left: the group of 9 sets out to Helsinger, took a 59mins bus, saw "laughing buddha" along the way, and wandered for a while to find our way to the castle..

inside the castle, damn alot of paintings lah.. some are salvaged, some repainted, some replenished to complete the painting.. notice the line across the bottom half of the canvas?! tats where it was replenished to complete the old painting.. i wonder if it was deliberate to hav slight colour difference, or is it the strength of the colour grows with age, hence there will always be the difference..

Shakespear wrote Krongborg Castle as the setting in "Hamlet"..

in the museum gift shop, i created my own story for Krongborg Castle..

CW from top left: the calvary guarded the castle with their lives, but it was not sufficient until the cannons came, fought and won (the Swedish) with the sound of victory, and lives back to merry and be happy for the danes..

i marked attendance (in the kids play room) by contributing an on-the-spot drawing of MY coat of arms, with a short para describing our trip to Krongborg.. haha..
