Elbow

woke up on sun, tues and today morning losing the ability to bend my right elbow.. dunnoe wats wrong too.. tot it might juz be a simple case of "tennis elbow" due to strain during exercise or something..

juz to be safe, i went down to UHWC @ YIH, NUS to see the doc.. mayb get some painkiller or physio method to improve the situation faster..

DOC1: What happen boy?

ME: Erm, dunnoe leh, i woke up dis morning cannot bend my elbow, hurts when i try to do so.. thr whole bending motion is rather painful..

DOC1: Let me check.. *starts pressing my elbow and boy, it sure hurts when she hits certain spots, esp the whole area juz above the elbow joint, the tendon there..

DOC1: hmm, let me refer u to the in-clinic bone specialist.. i suspect there is a cyst which might hav developed due to inflammation of ur elbow tendon..

ME: Okie.. thanks..

DOC2: What happened?

ME: Erm, dunnoe leh, i woke up dis morning cannot bend my elbow, hurts when i try to do so.. thr whole bending motion is rather painful..

DOC2: Let me check.. *starts pressing my elbow and really pressing at those places tat hurts most many many times..

DOC2: i suspect its a cyst.. look at the swelling at the elbow tendon.. and tats restricting ur movement.. shall we do a test now?

ME: how is the test gonna be like?

DOC2: we will poke a syringe to draw sample from the swell and see if there is pus or not.. if there is, then its a cyst, and u will have to go for operation at NUH A&E immediately.. otherwise, it could juz be a normal swell, and hopefully the pills will work..

ME: huh, operation?! i am having my exams next week!

DOC2: but u cant wait til den.. it might be acute and we cannot allow the pus to be spread ard in ur bloodstream..

ME: u mean like i hav to get poked by needles now?!

DOC2: yap, tats the fastest way.. unless u want to go the polyclinic and let the doctors there refer u to NUH A&E to take a ultrasound.. we can derive the results from that too, but will take time, and cost more..

ME: hmm, ok, u can proceed with the test now..

DOC2: ok, nurse, wats the largest syringe size we hav? pls prepare it, and anesthetic too..

ME tinking to myself: wtf, largest syringe?! need anesthetic too..

not after long, i was on the ops bed, laying down, shivering.. u drink yakult?! the syringe diameter was tat of the yakult straw! goodness.. no wonder i needed anesthetic..

it was cold, scary and totally out of my imagination.. mini operation juz like tat.. i am not prepared AT ALL.. he insert, drew oni blood, and tried at another angle, same results.. den tried again at another place.. still oni blood..

total 3 insertions, alot of blood lost in the process..

DOC2: hmm, it seems like there is no pus, so either its really juz a swell, or the pus hasn't fully develop.. u observe urself, should u get fever, come back immediately.. inflammation leads to fever, and so if fever, the chance of the inflammation at ur elbow is true, and we might need to arrange for the ops.. meanwhile, juz take the anti-inflammatory pills, and come back for re-consultation next thurs if nothing happens in between..

ME tinking to myself: i am so fucked! its the exams period, and i had to kanna such stuff.. wat if i really need a operation?!?! wat if i had to miss a test?!?! i DOWAN to retake these horrible modules!! omg..

right now, my elbow aches upon bending, my heart sinks upon tinking abt the consequences should things get worse.. fuck!!!
